Initial Session
— $160 —

All new relationships require time and space to build a strong foundation. During your initial session, we take a thorough health history, reviewing your intake questionnaire and chief concern. As with every visit, the initial session also includes tongue and pulse diagnosis to look for any imbalances in your body. Based on our assessment, we develop an individualized treatment plan that may include any of the needle and/or non-needle therapies listed below. We ask that you allow 90 minutes for an adult/teen initial session and 60 minutes for a pediatric initial session. This session priced per treatment for all ages and time durations. Click here to book your appointment online.

While we do treat acute issues, we practice root-cause medicine. While you may start feeling better after the first treatment or two, it generally takes a series of visits to sustain results. Each session builds upon the last. Remember that many of the imbalances in your body that cause suffering develop over time. These imbalances are often layered, creating a complex picture. Each experience you have adds another layer of complexity. While we work on addressing your symptoms, we are also slowly peeling back the layers to discover what’s really at the root of the issue.

Acupuncture is part of a 4000+ year old Chinese Medicine system involving the placement of hair-thin needles along specific energy pathways in the body to promote healing. This stimulates the body’s natural healing process by activating specific points that regulate the nervous system, release endorphins and promote systemic balance.
-
Yes, acupuncture is safe when performed by a licensed acupuncturist. At Sacred Lines Family Acupuncture, we practice Clean Needle Technique, which mandates the use of single-use, sterile needles and Standard Precautions.
-
Acupuncture should never cause pain. When inserting needles, acupuncturists look for the arrival of De Qi at the insertion site to ensure that the body is engaging with the needle. This may feel like a vibration, energy movement or sometimes a dull ache that resolves quickly as the treatment progresses.
-
Not usually. Occasionally, a patient may go home with a mild bruise at the insertion site that resolves on its own within a couple days. Patients may also feel relaxed or in a meditative state — we call it “acu-stoned” — following a treatment.
-
Needles are encouraged, but we never force needles upon anyone. We work with you and at your own pace. Rest assured that if you do have a severe aversion to needles we have a “tool bag” full of non-needle therapies. Click here to learn more about our needle and non-needle therapies.

Loose-fitted clothing that can easily be rolled up past the knee, elbow or abdomen is best. Please, no body suits, one-piece jumpers or skinny jeans. If you are dressed for another occasion, you are always welcome to bring a change of clothes.
-
We recommend eating a snack or small meal at least one hour prior to your session. Avoid alcohol, excessively heavy meals, or vigorous exercise on the day of your session. Dress appropriately, as noted above. If at all possible, attempt to limit stressful activity after your session so your body has time to process your treatment.
-
No, not at this time. However, we are happy to provide a Superbill or receipt of services if your insurance plan allows for acupuncture treatments. Please contact your insurance provider prior to your session to make sure that your plan includes acupuncture coverage.
-
Yes, we accept both Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Some FSA plans require a superbill or receipt of services for reimbursement of funds, so please let us know what is required by your specific plan.
-
We charge our rates per session, not per unit of time because the needs of the patient drives the treatment given. For instance, children require shorter visits than adults, but are given the same level of care. Therefore, a 30 min session carries the same value as a 60 min session.
-
We attempt to make our sessions affordable by offering discounted session packages. We address further financial assistance on a case-by-case basis.
